AI and Book Trailers
Book trailers have been around since the early 2000s and provide new media opportunities for book marketing. It is nothing for a person to scroll through an online streaming service on their television looking for the perfect movie. Part of this process is watching movie trailers until the right one grabs their attention and that is the movie they watch. Book trailers have the potential to have the same impact. A book trailer can be an incredibly useful marketing tool for authors, allowing you to give readers a preview of your book in a dynamic video format. But they’ve also, historically, been pretty ineffective and costly (Hamilton, 2024). But now book trailers are easier to make and more affordable, especially when using AI. Jen De Vore Richter has a short video on YouTube demonstrating how she utilized AI to make a book trailer. The process was easy, and the result was what she was looking for. There are many video editing sites, sites where a person can find the perfect music, and others that provide images. Some of these sites are free, and they are easy to use. It is important to read all licensing rules before utilizing music and images. Each website provides that information. The picture to the left is one I created with Canva AI, and it will be used in the book trailer I am making for Face to Face.

Behind the pseudonym
Raven J Hart
In 2017, my 21-year-old son died from suicide. The grief and darkness almost swallowed me whole. When I started to walk through the other side of my grief, I wanted my writing to represent Josh. To many people, a raven represents death and darkness. There was a point in my life when I was living in that darkness. But the raven is one of the smartest birds and can also represent rebirth and starting over. I had to start over, find the strength to find my faith again and let God carry me through trials. The "J" stands for Josh, and the Hart is a two-fold representation. One Josh will always be in my heart and two my heart will never be completely whole so the "e" is removed from my pseudonym.
